New Executive Committee at the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce
The Spain-US Chamber of Commerce has, as a result of its annual election, renewed its Executive Committee for the 2009-2010 term.
The position of the new Chairman of the Board of Directors is now held by Margarita Oliva, a dually Spanish and New York-qualified attorney, and the first woman to ever hold this position in the 50-year history of this prestigious institution.
After the election for Chairman, the following officers were re-elected by a unanimous vote: Antonio Camuñas, President; Hayes Kavanagh, Secretary and Laura Ezquerra, Treasurer. The new Executive Committee is also formed by the new inclusion of Albert Garrofé as Vice Chairman, and Clark Winter and Mariette Arguimbau-Scott as Vice Presidents. During the next few weeks, additional vice presidencies and working committees will be elected.
Margarita Oliva (born in Granada, Spain, 1969) comes in as Chairman of the Board on the 50th anniversary of the Chamber. She holds a J.D. from the University of Granada, Spain, a diploma on European studies by the Universitá degli Studi di Bologna, Italy, and a Master of Laws from Harvard University. In 1996 she joined Allen & Overy LLP, a prestigious global law firm considered one the Magic Circle firms, where she worked on international financing transactions advising, among others, Spanish companies doing business in the US or in Latin America. Margarita is both a Spain and US citizen.
